The Great Christmas Carnival at Newbury Racecourse will provide a magical, fun-filled experience for all ages and all demographics, but with a particular focus on families.
Animating a section of the central area of the racecourse, a traditional Christmas carnival with contemporary & exciting elements will be aimed at wowing visitors and ensuring that a festive and fun time is had by all. The event is unique to the area and will be a safe and welcoming haven where visitors can come together to celebrate and enjoy a Christmas Carnival.
The event will be specially curated to ensure there is something for everyone on site, especially families.
The Great Christmas Carnival will run from late-November until early January each year and planning permission is initially being sought for a five year period.
The event will include:
· A Circus Big Top tent, which will host world class and exhilarating circus and well-known family friendly shows
· A bespoke and magical Christmas tree maze
· Traditional Christmas market stalls, selling hand crafted local goods and gifts
· Local contemporary & festive food and drinks stalls
· A beautiful ice rink
· Carnival rides to cater for all ages
· Santa’s Grotto
The Circus Big Top programme will seek out the best, most thrilling, large scale spectacle circus shows around to marvel and entertain audiences. Family shows will feature well-known characters or tales ensuring wonder, laughter and enjoyment all round.
The bespoke and magical Christmas tree maze will be a highlight, with its lush fir lined pathways eventually leading to a charming hut where an Elf will reward visitors completing the maze with a small gift. Santa’s Grotto will be nestled in front of the Christmas tree maze, aimed at providing a bespoke and enchanting experience where children can meet the Man himself.
Complementing the Christmas Tree maze and Santa’s Grotto will be a selection of carnival rides and attractions, with something for everyone.
A beautiful ice rink will also feature on the site creating, which should appeal to visitors of all ages.
Underbelly will programme a specially selected wide-range of traders to feature within the Christmas market, ranging from local craft and artisan producers, classic Christmas gifts and decorations, as well as current and traditional food & drink offerings.
It is anticipated that the event would generally start at midday (apart from on a couple of race days when it would start at 4pm) and it would run until 8-9pm on Sundays to Wednesdays and until 10pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The event would be a ticket only event, which will ensure that visitor numbers are controlled and staggered to ensure a steady flow of visitors throughout the day rather than at concentrated peak times. The vast majority of tickets would be purchased in advance, with the remaining tickets available for sale at the box office at the site entrance. There will be a number of circus & family shows each day, with tickets timed for a specific event.
